Baybrook Mall welcomes a chic, teen furniture store called Dry Ice. The store will open on Nov. 7 across from Kirklands. It is a furniture store that will cater to teens and young adults. Moody Garden’s Festival of Lights begins Nov. 22 and ends Jan. 3. It features a towering Christmas Castle, Santa’s workshop, the city of Bethlehem, and other spectacular displays. Be sure to get your picture taken with Santa or the giant Poinsettia Tree. Park hours are Thursday-Sunday through Dec. 14 and daily from Dec. 15 through Jan. 3. Webster Business Referral Group meets each Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. in the old Webster City Council Chambers, 311 Pennsylvania Ave. The Webster Evening Referral Group meets each Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 3 Day Blinds, 599 Bay Area Blvd at Texas Ave. The newest meeting time in League City meets at 7:30 a.m. in the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center. November 6 – Support the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo by attending Cowboys & Cowgirls Who Cook. Fifty plus celebrity chefs from the Clear Lake Area will showcase their culinary abilities at Marker I Marina Ballroom in Seabrook. A $35 donation will get you in the door, sample recipes, enjoy drinks, listen to music entertainment and bid on items at the silent auction. The cook off will be held on Thursday from 6 - 9:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the HLS&R scholarship fund for CCISD seniors. November 6,7,8 – 22nd Annual Velvet Stocking Christmas Craft Show will take place at the Webster Civic Center. The hours for the show will be from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Saturday hours will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. There are 22 unique vendors in this years show. November 7 – Galveston Bay Power Squadron presents its annual Murphy’s Law Seminar on what to do when everything goes wrong at once on your boat. Free and open to the public. November 8 – Self Help for Hard of Hearing People (SHHH) will meet Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Gloria dei Lutheran Church in Nassau Bay. SHHH is designed for hearing impaired persons and their significant others for information sharing, social networking, and support. November 8 – Baybrook Mall welcomes Santa on Saturday at 11 a.m. He will enter the mall with help from the Friendswood Postal Service and have a parade of merchants, mascots, and the Friendswood High School Band. November 8 – 22nd Annual Matrtyn Farm Fall Festival debuts on Saturday with a Chuckwagon Country Breakfast at 9 a.m. at the Armand Bayou Nature Center. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. These prices include your admission for the rest of the day’s activities. November 14 – 2nd Annual Lutheran South Academy Gala will be held at the Houston Hobby Marriott Hotel on Friday starting at 6 p.m. The theme this year is ‘Winter Wonderland’ with dinner, live entertainment, and live and silent auctions. November 22 & 23 – 37th Annual Heritage Gardeners’ Garden Club Christmas Tour will be from 1 - 5 p.m. each day. Houses will be decorated for Christmas plus a bazaar and bake sale. November 24,25 – Holiday Craft Event at Armand Bayou Nature Center for children ages 5 through 12 can create greeting cards, book markers, tree ornaments and placements. November 28-29 – Galveston Island’s 7th Annual Galveston Harbor Parade of Lights and the Official Holiday Tree Lighting Spectacular. The Harbor Parade will begin at 6 p.m. Friday along the Port of Galveston. View the boats from Pier 21 and 23 at Harborside or the restaurants along the harbor. Saturday evening brings Santa to Galveston Island as well as the Official Holiday Tree Lighting in front of The Rainforest Café, 53rd and Seawall which will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Contact the Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau at (888) 425-4753 for more information.
November 29-30 – Back Bay Markets are held in a beautifully shaded outdoor setting surrounded by gift and antique shops. Visitors shop for collectibles, jewelry, clothing, specialty foods, gardening accessories, stained glass, and more. They are held on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. It is located in the heart of Seabrook on the corner of 4th and Hardesty. December 5 – Holiday Fashion Style Show and Luncheon will be presented by the Interfaith Caring Ministries along with the Festival of Trees. It will be held at the South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Friday. The fashion show will feature outfits from local shops around the bay. Individual tickets will be $30, runway tables for 10 can be purchased for $500, but they are limited. Call Susan Bailey at (281) 332-3881 to reserve your ticket.
December 3-6- Interfaith Caring Ministries announces the 10th Annual Festival of Trees to be held at the South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center. December 6 – Breakfast with Santa at Baybrook Mall. Come join a free breakfast with Santa on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. It is free to children 12 years old and younger. Breakfast will be served in the food court. For more information visit www.baybrook.com
December 8 – Seabrook’s Classic Café Christmas Dinner Benefiting Ed White Youth Center to be held Monday from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the Classic Café, 2511 Nasa Rd 1.
